My Heart Belongs To NYC

I visited in 2012 and have missed the city ever since.

No I don’t miss the city in that type of cliche where as a Californian you miss NY because that’s where dreams are made. I miss the city for the people. Yes the lady at Katz who told me to get the f*** out of her way because I was taking too long to order and the subway train I missed.

That trip to the city that held so many rich memories for me. The walking around everywhere, the insane amount of bags of trash on the street, the people at the parks enjoying summertime. It was a city full of Black and Brown people so it felt like home.

The dream was to move to NYC with my gay bestfriend and we would live out our own version of Sex and The City which yes might illicit some eye rolling because tons of non-NY natives all say the same thing. We were different or so we thought.

I enjoyed walking around the village and enjoying all the beautiful front steps of the brick buildings, taking pictures in Central Park and going to the museums. I even have a picture of the street Waverly Place which I thought was only a Disney show about witches featuring Selena Gomez. My sister and I went on the trip together and we…
